SafeSport
The U.S. Congress designated the U.S. Center for SafeSport with the authority to respond to reports of sexual misconduct within the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Movement by passing the Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017. This legislation designates the U.S. Center for SafeSport to serve as the independent national safe sport organization.

USRowing's SafeSport program is designed to assure athlete safety by promoting and enforcing policies and programs that address: bullying, hazing, harassment (including sexual harassment), emotional misconduct, physical misconduct and sexual misconduct (including child sexual abuse and/or grooming behaviors). While the primary focus is to safeguard children, these policies extend to all age groups including masters and college level.

Spy Coast Rowing adopts and agrees to the athlete safety program established in USRowing’s policy which can be found at: https://usrowing.org/safe-sport

Spy Coast Rowing strongly encourages the reporting of all forms of misconduct. There is no cost associated with submitting a report. Reporting of issues of misconduct may be made anonymously however, it is encouraged that the complainant provide enough detail to allow for a proper investigation, if required.

iCrew
Spy Coast Rowing utilizes iCrew for onboarding new members and attendance.
​
Once you create an account ands register with your respective team, you can opt-in/out of practices, complete forms, see club events, ect...
​
You will check the iCrew app/website prior to practice to check for line-ups and any other updates from coaches.

iCrew Signup Instructions for Junior athletes and parents

Parents/Guardians must first create an iCrew account, to create an iCrew account. Go to: https://icrew.club/register?club=SCRNY

Parents, you will see a few options, click the link “SCR Junior's Parents season and year”

Fill out all required fields on the page with your contact information.

When you first complete the first registration page you will see the option to create an iCrew account for your child by clicking on a green button at the top of the page. You must complete an iCrew profile for your child in addition to your Parent/Guardian profile.

When asked what team your child will be joining make sure to select the “SCR Juniors season and year” option.

Complete the profile for your child.

After completing your child’s iCrew Profile and account you will be logged out of all iCrew accounts. Please log back in to your Parent/Guardian account.

After logging back into the Parent Account you will need to do the following:

Complete the "Juniors Payment Form season and year" so that we know how you'd like to be billed for the season

Sign all waivers found in the Documents tab.

Some forms, such as the Swim Test Card will need to be handed in person ​

Add a Date of Birth and a USRowing Membership Number* under your child’s “Profile” tab, under the subsection of “Rower Settings”. Additionally, you must add an Emergency Contact under the “Emergency Contact” tab in the same “Profile” menu.

Quick Release Shoes
All of Spy Coast Rowing's boats utilize a quick-release shoe system. That means that rowing shoes are "clipped" in and out of the boats (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvxxTbQOVMk).
This allows each athlete to have their own shoes fit to them in whichever rowing boat they are in. This eliminates any issues where athletes find themselves with shoes that are way too big or too small for them and is also much cleanlier for everyone.
All of our boats have the receiving-end of this system installed on each foot stretcher. We ask that rowers purchase their own shoes along with the clip that allows them to attach in the boats.
SCR has fit some of it's own shoe's with the system in-case someone forgets their shoes, someone cannot purchase their own shoes due to financial reasons, and/or for novice rowers/LTR.
